Welcome to 4th Grade!
About Miss Bisceglia-
I moved to Denver from Arizona 4 years ago. I love Denver and I love being out of the hot, hot summers back in Arizona. I attended Regis University, right down the road from Edison, for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. After graduating and finishing my student teaching, I moved back to my home state of Arizona and began teaching sixth grade. After my first year teaching, I moved to a different school and taught fourth grade for one year and fifth grade for three years. I love being back in fourth grade! I graduated in May 2013 from Northern Arizona University with my Master’s in Elementary Education. I decided I missed Denver and moved back four summers. I love baking! I have taken a few classes in Cake Decorating, and would like to become more skilled in my hobby. I love reading and cannot wait to share my love of reading with all of my students. My favorite book and movie as a child was the Wizard of Oz. Even though I have read the book dozens of times and seen the movie at least 100 times, it still brings me joy and I find something new and spectacular each and every time. My favorite children's author is Chris Van Allsburg and my favorite adult author is Nicholas Sparks. I love being outdoors and I am love taking advantage of all of the beautiful outdoor spaces Colorado has to offer.
I am looking forward to my 5th year teaching 4th grade here at Edison. I love the neighborhood and community here in North Denver. I also love the 4th grade units of study! My favorite part about teaching 4th grade in our Colorado History Unit and the amazing overnight field trip we take as a grade to Downtown Denver. Through our reading units we will be exploring Poetry, Animal Defense Mechanisms, Colorado History, and the Women's Suffrage Movement. Each unit really digs deep into each topic and students will come home with new and exciting knowledge everyday! During our Science units we will be learning about the Rock Cycle, Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy, and Ecosystems. With hands-on projects and project based learning students will be diving into these topics throughout the school year. Through a partnership with SOLE (Schools and Outdoor Learning Environments) all 4th graders will be given the opportunity to visit State Parks and be introduced to many wonderful outdoor learning experiences we have available here in Colorado. 4th grade is bound to be a memorable year for all students! I can't wait for this year to begin.
